Comment: The park is often covered in a dense bamboo forest which we hike up and through.

12SabyinyoGroup - 10 * The trackers radio our guide with the current location of the group and we head out for the nearest entry point to the park.

12SabyinyoGroup - 11 * More times than not, it is a very bumpy ride.

12SabyinyoGroup - 12 * Next comes a 30-60 minute hike across cleared farmland to get to the park boundary wall.

12SabyinyoGroup - 13 * The Sabyinyo group is named for the volcano which means old man's teeth.

12SabyinyoGroup - 16 * Most of our hike had a confined view.

12SabyinyoGroup - 17 * We always enjoyed reaching one of the small clearings where we could have a short rest. This is a high elevation for sea level types. The pre-trip to Tanzania really helped us acclimatize.

12SabyinyoGroup - 18 * Eric, Pat, Gary and Irene with our guides Patience and Edward. Gary is the first blind person to trek the mountain gorillas at PNV.

12SabyinyoGroup - 19 * Local farmers take turns as porters. They carry our belongings allowing us to slip in the mud and fall with hardly a concern.
